PVA Celebrates 5th Year on the Web

Property Valuation Advisors (PVA) celebrates five years on the Web. The PVA site debuted in the fall of 1995 when few real estate sites were up. Initially, the site received about 50 to 100 hits per week.

Now, it is getting about 800 hits per week. Most come in from our page, "Commercial Real Estate and Appraisal Web Sites", at <www.shore.net/~straub/comweb.htm>. The popularity is a result of the attempt to keep it organized, selective, and thorough. Sites without useful content are excluded, yet pertinent and useful web sites are not missed, and are easy to find.

Sites are categorized nationally as organizational, academic, news, commercial, and governmental, plus a special area for New England only sites exists. In addition to updating many out-of-date links and deleting obsolete links, recently, three new links were added:

LAI <www.lai.org/> - Lamda Alpha International - A professional honorary land economics society, whose members are chosen by invitation, based on achievement.
MBA <www.mbaa.org/cref/> - Mortgage Bankers Association of America - Commercial Finance Section - Events, courses, news, and research.
IRWA <www.irwaonline.org/> - International Right of Way Association - A professional organization dedicated to right-of-way and land acquisition work.

In addition, our newsletter, Property Valuation Monitor, and an appraisal bookstore with in-depth book reviews are available.
